At its simplest, Morning Pages is a daily “brain dump”—a way to sweep the cobwebs out of your mind before you start your day. I used to write in a notebook as a kid. Slowly, though, I became guilty of being influenced by digitization—of wanting to be cool enough to write in apps like Notion.

You were dropped into a world your brain (mind) was never built for—your ancestors only had to survive the day, but you’re managing a thousand micro-battles before breakfast. And you don’t stop. You don’t rest. You accelerate.

This is what nobody tells you about the 5 AM club, the early morning routine explosion, and the entire “discipline is the answer” movement.  It operates on a dangerous assumption: that everyone’s body works the same way, and that if yours doesn’t, you’re not trying hard enough. But that assumption is wrong. And it’s costing people their health, their peace of mind, and ironically, their productivity.

Most people think the clearer and more specific the goal, the safer the future. But the reality is the clearer and more rigid the goals, the more fragile the human behind it becomes.
